Problem
Dana Fortier, a fellow VA and one of my best friends, was in need a new website to go with the new brand identity for her VA business. At the beginning, Dana wasn’t sure what she wanted in terms of design, colors, or functionality, but had some definite ideas of things she didn’t like.
Solution
Trying to come up with a website design without any direction from the client is kind of like trying to buy a car but not knowing what kind you want – sedan, coupe, SUV, station wagon, truck, etc. The possibilities are endless. Dana actually went to another web developer to try to get started, but was very disappointed with the time it was taking and the unsatisfactory customer service she was given. So, back she came, armed with a color palette, design ideas, and – most importantly – decisions about content and functionality.

Result
Dana is thrilled with her new website, and has been enthusiastically announcing it in her email signature and social media.

Problem
This Client had an existing website that was bland and static-HTML based and therefore hard for her to update. Transcription is her specialty, not website maintenance. She came to me with an approved design that needed to be converted into WordPress.
Solution
I worked with the client to refine the design and to make sure that the content and pages highlighted her business as best as possible.

Results
The client is very happy with her new, easy-to-maintain WordPress website. In her own words,
“I am so glad for the virtual introduction to Terri! She helped me out of a WordPress jam in such a manner that made me keep coming back for additional (much needed) services. My previous website designer was a challenge to work with, and much to my very pleasant surprise I found Terri to not only “know her stuff” but to also be warm, easy to work with, and very professional. She got my website up and running without any problems whatsoever. I later had the pleasure of introducing Terri as a presenter at the IVAA conference in Portland, where she again demonstrated her professionalism and expertise as I have no doubt the participants increased their knowledge as a result of her presentation. It is with confidence that I recommend Terri for your website needs.”

I met Kelly Eckert at a workshop sponsored by Pittsburgh Professional Women, and that’s where I was introduced to Positivity Girl. I gotta tell you – I love Positivity Girl, and The Daily Zap that I get every morning. Kelly & I met to talk about her website the following week, which is when I learned she need a whole website, from scratch, and I had just about 2 weeks to do it. PositivityGirl was going to be sponsoring an awards luncheon in 15 days and the website needed to be live before that. I love a challenge.
So Kelly and I sat down and we talked about what she wanted to see on the PositivityGirl.com website – what information she wanted there, what functions, what the pages should be called, etc. We decided on a simple layout that kind of mimicked the book cover. Simple, easy to use. Bright. And the simple design made the tight timeline doable.
Fast forward two weeks later and a website is born. It’s lean and simple, and happy. Visitors to the website can buy the book (a great book and a quick read), submit their own Moment story, or purchase some other PositivityGirl logo-ed gear.
