No, a VA is a business owner who works an independent contractor for their clients. This means that the clients do not have to pay additonal fees usually associated with an employee, such as payroll taxes, health benefits, vacation and holiday pay, equipment, office furniture & supplies, and so on.

Is a VA only for administrative work?
No. While the industry may have started out with VAs who specialized in administrative support, it has grown to encompass a wide variety of service offerings, depending on the individual VA’s skill set and business model. What does a VA charge?
Because every VA owns their own business, they set their own rates. Average rates can be anywhere from $25 to $75 per hour, depending on skill-set, experience, length of time in business, and possibly location.
